I saw my first wild wolf in Yellowstone National Park. I saw a lot of firsts there, bears and buffalo. It was also my first time to breathe such fresh air. My first time in the park presented me with a completely different experience from being in the city (Houston, Texas). There was so much space, the enormity of which in itself was so liberating, but all together the experience changed me on a deep level. I felt in touch and connected, witnessing a rawness of nature to which no city park, however grand, can compare.

Yellowstone National Park
America's first national park is named after the river that runs through it. Within the park's massive boundaries, visitors can find mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and some of the most concentrated geothermal activity in the world. The park has 60% of the world’s geysers, as well as hot springs and mud pots. It is also home to diverse wildlife with the largest concentration of mammals in the Lower 48 states, including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk.
